Ranko Pauković (1960) is a Croatian-born sound designer based in Amsterdam. After graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, he began his career as an assistant editor on major international co-productions.
In 1991, he moved to the Netherlands, where he soon began working as a sound editor with prominent Dutch filmmakers.In 1993, he founded Edison Studios, specializing in sound design, editing and mixing for artistically significant films. Over the years, he has worked on numerous feature films and creative documentaries, many of which have premiered at prestigious festivals, including Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, Sundance, and Toronto. He has collaborated with directors from across the globe, including Croatia, the UK, China, Kazakhstan, Belgium, France, Armenia, Brazil, Colombia, Finland, and the Netherlands.
In addition to his work in sound, Ranko has also directed several documentaries. 90 Seconds in North Korea premiered at the Sheffield DocFest and was later screened at MoMA in New York and the Louvre in Paris.
In 2025, Ranko received the Cinema Eye Honors Award in New York for his sound design on Soundtrack to a Coup d’État. He also serves as a visiting professor at the University of Zagreb, where he teaches sound design, and is a member of the European Film Academy.
