Slobodan Kadić was born on October 21, 1973 in Našice. He graduated in Croatian studies at the Faculty of Education in Osijek (now the Faculty of Philosophy). Since his student days, he has worked as a journalist and photojournalist for Glas Slavonije, Večernji list, Slavonski dom, Kronika požeško-slavonska and for various internet portals. Although he has worked in all areas of journalism, his favorite topics are sports and tourism, and his eternal love is photography, resulting in two independent exhibitions. He has won several journalism awards, notably the Croatian Association of Sports Journalists award for work in local media (2009), the FIJET and the INTERSTAS award of the European Federation of Tourism Journalists for outstanding contribution to the development of tourism in 2016. He was a member of the jury at the most famous international tourist film festivals Zagreb Tourfilm Festival 2017 and Tourfilm Riga (Latvia) – from 2019 to 2021. During his career as a professor of Croatian language and literature at foreign universities and as an employee of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, he often changed his place of residence and at one time lived in Lviv and Kiev (Ukraine), Beijing (China) and Moscow (Russia). He is a long-time columnist for Glas Slavonia with one of the most read columns Putničke svaštarije (Traveller’s Guide), which has been published continuously since January 25, 2017, and a contributor to Total Croatia News and the HIA portal. He reported and photographed the Olympics in Athens and Tokyo and several other major sporting events.
He is a long-time member of the HND – Croatian Journalists’ Association, UNS, FIJET, HZSN, and as a journalist with a suitcase is always ready – an incorrigible traveler and citizen of the world.
